First, add grinded herbs and alcohol to the tank, keep the extraction system a closed-loop circulation. The work process is similar to water solvent extraction. In some cases, using alcohol can lower the extraction temperature to protect the heat-sensitive raw material. To reach a lower temperature, a vacuum is also applied constantly. Assisting with a vacuum pump and medicine transfer pump, to get a higher content of effective material mass. When using ethanol, the extraction systems also need an anti-explosion design for operation safety as ethanol is a flammable and explosive solvent. Using Acid Water Extraction Method
Some raw materials need extract under a slightly acidic environment such as pectin extraction. The raw material is usually fruits like orange, apple, tomato and etc. Pulverize the raw material mass first and then add it to the extraction system. Purified water passes through steam to heat up and kill enzymes and remove other impurities. Then washed with water to remove impurities such as pigments and proteins. A decanter centrifugal will filter the extract, the filtered residue needs drying and recycle. The filtrate is then concentrated to a thick paste by falling film evaporator, alcohol precipitation, centrifugal filtration, vacuum drying. The finished product is crushed and packaged for storage. Ultrasonic Extraction
To make extraction more efficient, ultrasonic is introduced into the extraction process due to its physical effect. The ultrasonic extraction makes herb mass and particles interact more with each other. The cavitation can cause the plant cell tissue to break or deform. There is the vibration, acceleration shock, and sound pressure between the particles. That ultrasonic extraction system accelerates the extraction of the effective ingredients in the raw material. It works under room temperature, reducing the loss of heat-sensitive ingredients.
